Campbell Wrapper Corporation
Moving Junction FeederThe Moving Junction Feeder accepts a random or intermittent supply of product and transforms it into a light-contact or non-contact accumulated backlog of product, suitable for metering to a wrapper infeed.

The Moving Junction Feeder features a servo-driven Gap Closing Belt, a servo-driven Locating Belt, and a servo-driven Moving Junction. The Gap Closing Belt is a high-speed belt which closes gaps between products that are supplied inconsistently. The Locating Belt is a lower speed belt that accepts product from the Gap Closing Belt and receives speed control signals from the flowrapper based on amount of product accumulated on it. The Moving Junction is the floating transition point from the high-speed Gap Closing Belt to the lower speed Locating Belt. This transition point is able to move upstream and downstream, effectively shifting the length of the Gap Closing and Locating Belts from one conveyor belt to the other, thereby varying the number of products accumulated on the Locating Belt while still utilizing the “catch up” ability of the Gap Closing Belt.

The moving transition point follows the last product transferred to the Locating Belt. As each successive product crosses the transition, the junction adjusts its position based on the rate of arrival of product and the rate product is being fed to the flowrapper. Depending on the speed of the application and the product characteristics, the Moving Junction moves upstream or downstream to either create a non-contact or a light-contact backlog of product on the Locating Belt.
